Here we are on the way from Queenstown (sunny, cool) to Fox Glacier (rainy, cold). These are some lakes and hills and stuff we were told to take pictures of. Dutifully, I took pictures. Another New Zealand traffic jam in the making... The full traffic jam. Here are some beautiful lakes and mountains taken out the side of the bus while travelling at speed. Unlike the Shotover Jet 'at speed' this was actually quite quick. I'm surprised any of these are any good. No, actually, I'm not. Some were 1/1000 second exposures. Some 1/500th. And still, the foreground gets a bit blurry sometimes. And then we took a 1/2 hour break for eating, drinking, and making love in the pastures. Uh... Making love in the pastures? At least, that would be what these pictures on the walls of the bathrooms would suggest... Some more pictures of the rest stop. Mountains. Hills. Clouds. Sky. Nifty. Here is a picture of a waterfall. It has tourists built-in and everything! What a niftycool place. And then we stopped to take pictures of a beach, the ocean, the clouds, tourists, and everything. There were sandflies to eat us and keep us company. Fenny has a guilty "I shouldn't be eating this, should I?" look on her face. This is a normal housefly. Not a sandfly. You can't get a picture of a sandfly, because if you come within a metre of it, it'll land on your hand and suck your blood. Fenny strikes a nonchalant "I don't care" pose. The mountains in the mist were really cool-looking and Fenny really wanted a picture. She took these two shots (and a few more which I deleted). Here are some pictures in and around the hostel in Fox Glacier. I'll keep it short for you: The hostel (Ivory Towers) is one of the best ones we've stayed in so far, but the town is boring. Boooorring! Yawn. I'm typing these diary entries for the past week or two while staying in Fox Glacier because... well... IT'S BORING! Ha. In Fox Glacier, they couldn't afford to import too many capital letters, so they had to spell it PLATeaU. That's just the way of life in Fox Glacier. You get used to it after a few decades. Really. You do. |
