I didn't really get any pictures of us leaving Akaroa, travelling to Christchurch, or our arrival in Christchurch. Once we'd arrived and were wandering around downtown, I noticed this restaurant whose name intrigued me, so I snapped off a shot for you watchers at home. Here you can have a meal while you travel around town. Unsure the attraction, really. It looked like a posh thing the rich tourists would do. As you've certainly noticed from my outfit, I'm not a rich tourist, so I just did the low-key things... ...like take pictures of the Blue Note Bar, of which there is another in Wellington that lived near the office where I worked. When I saw this poster, I knew I had to take a picture of it! A naked half-lady half-prawn lying on a bed of sticky rice! When you have no idea about the Coming of the Great Prawn, the signs simply don't appear as signs to you. They're merely a jumble of confused symbols, messages, and images that mean nothing. But when you're versed in the facts of the Coming of the Great Prawn, you suddenly are able to form these things into a coherent whole picture. Some pictures of Christchurch including the ever-famous cathedral in "Cathedral Square." Also pics of Fenny and I. Pictures of the Asian (mostly Japanese) tourists in Christchurch, including a rather animated young lady that was very interested in the pidgeons of the square. More Chch architecture and scenery. Here are some images of the Vagabond, where we stayed in Chch. It was a nice place with a very animated and amusing host whose name I never did catch. |
